QSI Titan Q2FX & ET sound files

Overview

This page is for the sound files that can be used in a QSI Titan

The Titan decoders can accept two kinds of files:

    • Q2-FX (the original Revolution sound files updated to work with the Titan)
    • ET - Emulator Technology

There are a ton of advantages to using an ET sound file, read here:

https://shedaker.wixsite.com/shedaker/emulator-technology-sound-files

I've added some notes on some of the sound files, some of the files have abnormally low or high levels default.

Also note well: You cannot use the original Q2 files, they must be Q2 files updated for the Titan.

Don't experiment with the wrong files for your Titan!

File name conventions:

By QSI convention, There is a model number (usually 4 digits), then a soundset number (some customization, usually horn/whistle/bell), and then a revision (major-minor-build).

Not all files follow this, and also older files may not have a subversion.

I further prepend the hardware version number on the file, because people are constantly trying to load files into the wrong hardware, the update program will tell you what hardware the file is for.

Bellmaster & Hornmaster:

These capabilites are in all Q3 diesel files. To take advantage of all the features like building your own horn, you need to use the Quantum CV Manager.

Headend power:

This is a little known feature that simulates a HEP prime mover. Head End Power gets assigned to a function Key, only assignable to NFF/NFR (you can't engage it while moving) loco will then behave just like a loco in HEP. Motor will be in N8 at all times and the only indication of notch change is the exhaust comes up in volume while the change is happening. If the loco is stationary long enough to go into low idle, it instead drops to N2 as is prototypical. Frankly, it makes the model boring as hell, but accurate.
