I've read a number of RAV4 forums, and it always comes back to you really need the official Toyota tool: Techstream.

I just bought the car adapter and techstream to control/customize my car. I have done this with the VAG-COM tool on my Audi's.

I'm very happy with the product so far, already improved a weak point in the car, the anemic cooling fans in the seats.

I went through Diag Tools Solutions  diag-tools.com and what great support, they were online and were right there in real time, wow.

Installation of Techstream

So, as always with "factory style" software, buying a reasonably priced "cable" for the OBD2 connection and the drivers is a pain.

I bought mine from Diag Tools and it was $85, a good price, and the only tricky part was installing the driver(s), since Windows did not like them. (This is fallout from Windows striking a deal with the Silabs people to block non Silabs USB>serial chips and their drivers.)

You do the standard stuff by disabling your antivirus and installing the drivers. Also watch if after installation Windows Security pops up, allow the driver as an exception. The drivers were supplied in a zip file, and had several drivers, I would guess for compatibility, I used the newest one (highest Version).

Installing the software was easy, and the software gives you an unique ID, you send this to the DIAG TOOLS people and you get the software key. Simple, and again they were right there in minutes to give me this.

I'll add more as I get experienced with TechStream, but money well spent for sure!

• seat coolers are ok
• seat belt beeper/chime
• calibrate tps sensors?
• tweak temperature offset, does it affect seat heater temp?

• program to allow locking of vehicle with sunroof open
• one touch sunroof control? allow closing of sunscreen with sunroof open
•  passenger airbag sensor/weight/occupancy sensor
